Seedbox hosting compared: uplink, storage and location (2026)

9 providers, read as infrastructure rather than marketing. What the host port is provisioned for, which storage tier you land on, how transfer is accounted for, and where the machine physically sits.

The comparison table

Entry price is the cheapest plan on offer, with the storage that plan includes. Uplink is the highest advertised host port across the range — capacity, not a per-slot guarantee.

Questions that decide the choice

What uplink speed do I actually get on a shared seedbox?
The advertised figure is the capacity of the host port, not a per-slot guarantee. It tells you the ceiling you can occasionally reach and how much headroom exists when neighbours are idle. Treat it as a comparative signal between providers rather than a throughput promise.
Is unmetered bandwidth really unmetered?
There is no counter, but every unmetered plan sits behind a fair-use policy. Sustained saturation gets throttled or reviewed. The practical difference against a metered plan is that you are not tracking a quota, not that the capacity is infinite.
Does NVMe matter on a seedbox?
Less than on a database server. Torrent workloads are throughput-bound rather than IOPS-bound. Where NVMe helps is as a cache layer in front of bulk disk, absorbing active transfers so the spinning storage handles sequential reads. Ultra.cc, Whatbox and Cloudboxes.io all use this design.
Why is almost everything hosted in the Netherlands?
Dutch datacentres combine dense European peering, competitive transit pricing and a well-established regulatory framework for hosting operators. That combination is why the market concentrated there. Providers offering Canada, Singapore, the USA, the UK or Germany are the exception, not the rule.
Shared slot or dedicated server?
A shared slot gives you a share of a machine and a shared outbound IP, which is fine for most use and cheaper by a wide margin. A dedicated server gives you the whole machine and an address nobody else can get flagged. RapidSeedbox is the main option here offering both.
